Selene Earrings with Amethyst
One of our signature earring designs, these lush silver circles named after the ancient goddess of the moon are hammered in a radiating pattern, then forged with a subtle, saddle-like curve to maximize their shimmer.
Hand forged from Argentium silver, a tarnish-resistant sterling silver that is 100% recycled, these earrings measure about 1" in diameter, and hang from our house-made Argentium ear wires.
This pair features rich 4mm amethysts set atop the lunar circles.
Amethyst is the traditional birthstone for the month of February, as well as for the astrological sign of Aquarius. It is also the gemstone associated with the 6th wedding anniversary. The name Amethyst comes from the ancient Greek and means "not intoxicated," as the stone was believed to prevent drunkenness. Amethyst also honors Artemis, the Greek Goddess of the Hunt and Diana, the Roman Goddess of the Moon, and Protector of Animals. It is a stone of spirituality and contentment, known for its metaphysical abilities to still the mind and enhance the intuition. Amethyst initiates wisdom and greater understanding, and is considered a stone of compassion and empathy.
