Demeter's Gift Lunula
This dramatic, one of a kind Lunula necklace is centered on a mystical boulder opal, its iridescent green veins winding like watery channels beneath the earth's crust. The opal is crowned with an unusually beautiful 'peaches and cream' andalusite honoring Demeter, goddess of the land, golden grains, and harvest. Hand forged from Argentium silver (a tarnish-resistant form of sterling silver that is 100% recycled) the delicate scrollwork of the necklace is accented with 18K fairmined gold granules. Finished length of the necklace is 18" with 1" of adjustable chain.
The crescent motif necklace is one of our favorite designs. We've named this style of necklace "Lunula" after the crescent shaped torcs forged in bronze age Ireland.
Opal is the traditional birthstone for the month of October. Opal is a luminous stone that encourages optimism, enthusiasm and creativity, and allows for the release of inhibitions. It stimulates flashes of intuition and insight, enhancing cosmic consciousness, while also acting as a protective stone for deep inner work, meditations, and lower world shamanic journeys. Opal's water energy can assist you in staying on your chosen path regardless of obstacles that arise. During times of transformation, this is an invaluable energy to work with and hold close to your heart.
Andalusite is a stone of protection, balance and vision. The balance in the cross's four equal arms offers energetic protection, aids in staying grounded, and in seeing clearly in uncertain situations. Sometimes called Cross Stone and Fairy's Cross, andalusite was a protective amulet for early Christians, thought to ward off the evil eye due to its obvious resemblance to the crucifix. Through a magical lens, andalusite would be beneficial for those at a crossroads in their life, imparting a sense of balance and clarity when choosing to move in a new direction.
