Medusa's Lair Necklace with Pietersite
Medusa's Lair is a stormy, serpentine necklace made of elegant scrollwork and set with a glossy blue-black pietersite teardrop cabochon. A hand fabricated serpent dangles from the centerpiece of the necklace. Hand forged in Argentium, a premier tarnish-resistant form of sterling silver, the centerpiece measures 2.75" wide and 3" long and hangs on a sterling silver chain with hand forged S-hook clasp. The chain measures about 18" long.
The serpent is a timeless symbol of wisdom, power, prophecy and transformation. Ancient cultures revered the serpent for its ability to shed its skin and renew itself, therefore the serpent became associated with divinity and immortality. Serpents, dragons, and half-serpent beings are associated with many deities and spirits, including the Nagas of Hinduism and Tibetan Buddhism, the Cobra goddesses of Egypt, and the titans of ancient Greece.
Each unique piece of our Serpentine jewelry is hand fabricated; no two serpents are exactly alike.
About Pitersite
Pietersite, sometimes called the "tempest stone," is a relatively new stone in the history of humanity's love affair with gems and minerals. Like its dramatic appearance, the stone's energy is highly charged and activating. Just as lightning clears the air and makes all things new, Pietersite discharges negative energies and emotional turmoil, cleansing the aura and restoring it to calm. It is also said to be a stone of vision, fostering connection to higher realms of consciousness. Waking to truth and dispelling illusion are associated with this stone, and it is thought to be strengthening and protective during times of growth and change.
