Mano Cornuto Pendant in Bronze

$135.00

The Mano Cornuto (horned hand) is an ancient fertility symbol, with variations spanning thousands of years across cultures. Known primarily in Italian folk magic—stregheria—it is also widely used as a protective gesture against impotency and the evil eye.

Whether made as an apotropaic gesture or worn as an amulet, the mano cornuto is used for magical protection against the evil eye. It resembles other hand gestures and hand images that ward off evil, including the hamsa hand, the eye-in-hand, the mano figa (fig hand), and the interlocked thumb gesture. These talismans were traditionally made of silver or blood coral, sacred elements for Luna, the goddess of the moon and Venus, the goddess of the sea.

These ancient charms hearken back to an era when the Great Mother or Fertility Goddess reigned supreme, whose consort was a male deity often referred to as the Horned God. The mano cornuto charm (and gesture) is a magical means to enhance virility and protect one's genitalia from the evil eye.

Our Mano Cornuto is a potent symbol of the Horned God and the fertility of his union with the Goddess. Wear it as a talisman for Love, Virility, Fertility, Creativity and of course, to avert the evil eye in all its forms.

This pendant was originally hand carved in wax in two parts: the arm and the cuff. This allows for it to be cast in different metals, then assembled into a two tone pendant. This pendant is cast in an alloy called ancient bronze. The color of bronze will deepen with time and wear, turning a rich coppery brown, but its sparkle and shine can be brought out with a polishing cloth for jewelry.

The pendant comes with an 18" Argentium chain with a hand forged hook and ring clasp.
